Giandomenico Basso leads an exciting battle in TER Round 3 - Rali Vinho da Madeira

After winning the opening stage on Thursday evening in Funchal, Giandomenico Basso (Hyundai New Generation i20 R5) was careful in the rain of the first friday morning test, losing some seconds and the leadership to the Peugeot of Alexandre Camacho. Basso was then fastest on SS 3 to reclaim first place ahead of Camacho and Miguel Nunes, whose feeling with the Hyundai i20 R5 is improving with every stage, while Simone Tempestini's Citroën DS3 dropped from second (after SS2) to fourth.

In the second pass on the morning stages, Basso and Camacho set one more fastest time each and reached service divided by 8.3”, with Miguel Nunes holding on to third

In the TER2 Cup, Joachim Wagemans has a comfortable lead while Roland Stengg and Diogo Soares keep trading places behind him.

The TER Production Trophy has seen Jim van den Heuvel increase his leadership over Juan Carlos Alonso, while Henk Bakkenes was slowed by mechanical problems.

After winning the first four stages in the TER 2WD Trophy, André Silva and his Renault Clio lost over a minute in the fifth test, handing the leadership to the Citroën C2 driven by Ricardo Gonçalves.
