From Argentina to the Tour European Rally: 3 questions to Juan Carlos Alonso

27.07.2017

Three questions to Argentinian driver Juan Carlos Alonso ahead of his Tour European Rally debut next week, in round 3 - Rali Vinho da Madeira.

1) Why did You choose the Tour European Rally, and how do You rate this new concept of Rally series?

At the beginning of 2017 we looked at the TER series with a lot of interest, classics rallies in beautiful cities, with a lot of future as championship, I think the concept of Rally series is the perfect choice for drivers who want to compete in classic rallies without high costs.

2) It has been a year since your last rally in the Mitsubishi Evo X. How difficult will it be to get back to Group N after some time driving R5 cars?

I have a lot of experience in Group N cars, but of course it will take me some time to get used to the Group N driving style. I have been competing in some rallies this year in R5 cars, so my confidence Is ok, I think the most difficult will be to get used to tarmac style, 99 % of my experience is in gravel rallies.

3) Despite having a wide experience of international rallying, this will be your first visit to Madeira. How are You preparing for the event?

Last year I was competing in Azores rally, I heard a lot about Rally Madeira, so when this year I decided to be in the TER Series, Rally Madeira was confirmed immediately. In this moment of my career I prefer to do classic rallies, to add to my list of rallies in which I have been in the entry list. My target for this rally is to have fun and try to be competitive against the other drivers.
