Ruiloba leads Rallye Sierra Morena after the first day

06.04.2024

The Spanish heads the overall and TER Series, the world series of TER, standings in front of Cachon, TER - Tour European Rally leader.

The first day of 2024 TER season has just finished after a 127km long battle on the fast tarmac roads around Cordoba, where the season opener Rallye Sierra Morena is taking place.

Driving a Citroen C3 Rally2, Diego Ruiloba and Ángel Luis Vela are first in Overall and TER Series, the world series of TER, standings, with a +8.9 seconds gap over Alejandro Cachon and Borja Rozada’s Toyota Yaris GR Rally2, leaders of TER - Tour European Rally.

In third place, and second of TER - Tour European Rally, 2023 Spanish Supercampeonato winners Jose Antonio Suarez and Alberto Iglesias Pin, who took their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 +41.2 seconds behind the leader. Fourth and fifth overall are the two Hyundai i20’s of Ivan Ares, codriven by Javier Martinez, and Sergi Perez alongside Axel Coronado.

2-time TER Ladies Trophy winner Rachele Somaschini certainly aims for the third crown since the first day, leading the category on her Citroen C3 Rally2.

In TER 2WD, Luis Fernando Rodriguez, codriven by Christian Morán on a Peugeot 208 Rally4 take the first place overnight in front of Josè Perez and Paolo Raviglione’s Renault Clios Rally5. In TER Junior, Alex Español and Lorena Romero are leaders on their Peugeot 208 Rally4.

Bittersweet feelings between reigning champions in the TER Historic, as J1/J2 2023 champions Gabriele Rossi and Fabrizio Handel, on their usual Ford Sierra Cosworth, are in the lead of their category, but 3-Time Pre81 Champions Tim Metcalfe and John Connor are forced to retire their Ford Escort MKII from the battle.
