An action-packed opening day at Get Connected Rali Ceredigion

Hayden Paddon leads while Jason Pritchard and Ivan Ballinari trade seconds and places

 

The first day of Get Connected Rali Ceredigion, 2022 TER – Tour European Rally round 5, has seen a great battle amongst the drivers of the newest concept of Rally Series.

 

Hayden Paddon with Jared Hudson, on a Hyundai i20 R5, were fastest on the two passes of the Aberystwyth city stage, and added a third consecutive best time in as many tests before the fourth stage was stopped.

 

Behind the leaders, two-time Swiss Champion Ivan Ballinari and Marco Menchini’s Volkswagen Polo took silver twice in the opening stages, ahead of 3-time Motorsport UK Asphalt and 2-time British Historic champion Jason Pritchard codriven by Phil Clarke on a sister car. The British crew then fought back in the two long stages run in darkness, making the most of their experience, trading seconds and places with their rivals to end the day in second while Ballinari and Menchini had to settle for third.
