Galician duo head to New Zealand for a new TER challenge at Central Machine Hire Otago Rally.
Two‑time TER – Tour European Rally Champion Édgar Vigo and Fátima Ameneiro will take part in the first round of the TER Series, the World Series of TER, the Central Machine Hire Otago Rally in New Zealand, event now in its third year in the series.
The Galician crew, winners of the TER – Tour European Rally championship in 2020 and 2021, have chosen a Suzuki Swift to compete in the iconic Otago Rally. This event is one of the most prestigious gravel events in the Asia Pacific region and in the world. This will be a new experience for the Spanish pair. In 2026, they will compete in rallies across the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) calendar.
The couple represent a well‑balanced crew with a proven track record in TER‑style events. They also have an appetite for international challenges. Their participation in the Central Machine Hire Otago Rally sends a strong signal to other European teams. This may encourage them to consider competing in events outside Europe.
TER Series promoter and organiser Luca Grilli commented: “I’m extremely happy to have the two‑time TER – Tour European Rally Champions at the first round of the 2026 TER Series. It’s an important step for crews who have followed the TER championships in Europe to discover fantastic rallies outside Europe. And this year it should not be the only one; more crews are already looking at the Otago Rally and other events in the series.”
The Otago Rally is scheduled from 10 to 12 April in Dunedin, New Zealand.
