A key TER Series event will not take place this season, with organizers confirming a pause due to external conditions.
The Rally Terra Sarda will not be part of the 2026 TER calendar, following the official announcement by Porto Cervo Racing confirming the cancellation of the event scheduled for 9–11 October.
The Italian rally, which has become a well-established fixture within the TER Series, TER – Tour European Rally, and TER Historic will not take place this season due to the absence of the necessary external conditions required to maintain the high organizational and qualitative standards that have defined the event in recent years.
Over its recent editions, Rally Terra Sarda has built a strong international reputation, attracting competitors from more than 15 countries and regularly welcoming top-level drivers. The event has also stood out for its ability to combine high-level sporting competition with significant territorial promotion, generating strong economic and tourism impact in Sardinia and delivering wide international visibility through TER’s global media distribution.
Despite the positive growth and success of the rally, the organizing committee has taken what it describes as a responsible but difficult decision, choosing to pause the event rather than compromise its established standards.
Mauro Atzei, President of Porto Cervo Racing Team, stated:
“The decision to suspend the Rally Terra Sarda 2026 is the most difficult we have ever had to take. For this reason, I would like to thank the TER Series and its promoter, Luca Grilli, who immediately understood the deeper reasons behind our choice, showing us support and closeness at such a delicate moment.
Over the years, we have built much more than a collaboration; we have shared the same vision of rallying, a vision where sport is not just competition, but a powerful tool to promote territories, culture, traditions and local communities. This shared philosophy has allowed Rally Terra Sarda to grow into one of the key events of the TER and an important international showcase for Sardinia.
Knowing that TER continues to believe in our project gives us confidence for the future. I want to emphasize that this is only a necessary pause. Together, we will continue working so that Rally Terra Sarda can return to the international TER calendar as soon as possible, even stronger and with the same ambition that has always united us.”
The TER expresses its full understanding of the situation and maintains its strong relationship with the organizers. There is a shared objective of seeing Rally Terra Sarda return to the calendar in the near future. As TER Organiser and Promoter Luca Grilli said:
“We fully understand the decision taken by Porto Cervo Racing, and as TER we can only support it. With regret, considering the fantastic collaboration established over the years with Rally Terra Sarda as the final event of the three TER series, we have acknowledged the situation and are already working to include a rally in the calendar in October or November. This is to replace the Sardinian event and conclude the three championships.
Our collaboration with Mauro Atzei and the entire Porto Cervo Racing team will not stop; this is only a pause. We will continue working together to achieve our shared objectives and build on the results we have accomplished together.
We are confident that Rally Terra Sarda will return as a great event in the 2027 TER.”
