Elfyn Evans set the fastest times on the Lappish stages to claim the speed crown at the 61st Arctic Lapland Rally. Meanwhile, Esapekka Lappi secured his second career victory in the event.
TER Promo Event – Rovaniemi, Finland
Held in extreme Arctic conditions with temperatures near -30°C, the 61st Arctic Lapland Rally featured 220 km of special stages around Rovaniemi.
Driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, the British WRC star Elfyn Evans achieved an average speed of 126.2 km/h. However, competing in Class 7, as per the regulations, he was ineligible for overall honors. This left the FRC1 category to battle for the win.
Esapekka Lappi dominated the race in a Škoda Fabia RS. Tuukka Kauppinen‘s Toyota edged Lauri Joona’s Fabia on the final stage for 2nd place, after a thrilling podium fight.
The top drivers showcased mastery on the fast frozen Lapland roads. This highlighted the rally’s reputation as the world’s most iconic winter rally, in a place known as the official hometown of Santa Claus.
Also, this year’s Arctic Lapland Rally will be distributed and broadcast by TER TV partners as a TER Promo Event, just like the rounds of TER’s three championships.
