Emil Lindholm forced to retire after dominating the weekend in Sardinia.

In the beautiful new location of Ogliastra, Sardinia, after an intense battle from the very first metre, the 2022 TER – Tour European Rally Champion and 2023 TER Series “The World Series of TER” Champion, as well as 2011 WRC Production Champion, Hayden Paddon, together with co-driver Jared Hudson, won Rally Terra Sarda for the second time, repeating their 2022 success.

The New Zealand crew, driving a Hyundai i20 Rally2, fought hard throughout the event despite some technical issues. Until the start of the final special stage, they were in second place behind the 2022 WRC2 World Champions, Emil Lindholm and Reeta Hämäläinen, in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.

In the last special stage, after an outstanding performance throughout the rally, the Finnish driver Emil Lindholm lost over six minutes following a small off, allowing Hayden Paddon to seize victory, his third consecutive win in as many weeks and in three different countries.

Thanks to this result, Paddon climbed up the TER Series, The World Series of TER standings, finishing the season in second place overall behind fellow New Zealander Ben Hunt, who clinched the 2025 TER Series Championship title.

With a strong and consistent performance, Andrea Pisano and Salvatore Musselli took second place in their Škoda Fabia, always close to the leading duo. Pisano set the third-fastest time in six special stages and the second-fastest in the final one, behind Paddon.

Third overall went to another Italian driver in a Škoda, Auro Siddi with co-driver Giuseppe Maccioni.

Three more Škoda Fabia entries completed the TER final Top 6: Cocco and Deiana took fourth place, ahead of Cadevano/Cottu and the Latvian crew Gints Cēlājs and Tom Freibergs, who, with their Sardinian result, now lead the 2025 TER – Tour European Rally standings ahead of the 9-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb and Estonian Kaspar Kasari.

In TER 2WD, victory went to Mirco Lorrai and Eleonora Murgia with a Renault Clio Rally5.

Second place for Simone Boscariol and Jasmine Manfredi, who move into the lead of the 2025 TER 2WD standings with this result.

Fabrizio De Sanctis and Simone Farnocchia finished third in TER 2WD, ahead of Romanians Ciprian Lupu and Cristian Sugar.

After a superb performance that saw them running fourth overall with their Renault Clio Rally3, young Sardinian hero Valentino Ledda and co-driver Claudio Mele were forced to retire in the penultimate stage.

Ronnie Caragliu and Gianfranco Tali also retired after they went off road in the 2nd Special Stage with their Škoda Fabia.

With the 2025 TER Series, The World Series of TER, and TER Historic championships now concluded, the next appointment is the Azores Rallye at the end of November, which will award the title of the 10th season of the TER – Tour European Rally.
