Azores Rallye in the 2023 TER - Tour European Rally

Popular Portuguese event adds to the excitement ahead of the new season 

 

The TER Series family has a new member: Azores Rallye will join the newest concept of Rally series with a 3-year agreement starting from 2023.

 

Based in São Miguel, the largest island of the mid-Atlantic Ocean archipelago, Azores Rallye features fast gravel stages over a unique sandy surface, in stunning scenarios such as the iconic Sete Cidades stage, running around a volcanic crater lake.

 

The event’s Hall of Fame comprises, alongside a strong local field led by record-holding seven-time winner Fernando Peres, World Class drivers such as Craig Breen, Kris Meeke, Andreas Mikkelsen, Juha Kankkunen, Markko Märtin and Bruno Thiry.

 

The event will celebrate its 57th edition in 2023, and will run between 31 March – 2 April.

 

Luca Grilli, TER Series Promoter and Organiser, said: “It feels great to have Azores Rallye join our project, and be able to remove the final TBA from next season’s calendar. Returning after a few years to Portugal will be nice, in an iconic event offering all the ingredients which are part of our Series’ project: a tourist-oriented area, unique event features, breathtaking locations; everything is there to guarantee crews, teams and fans a wonderful experience and a great time.”

The series guarantees great visibility to Azores Rallye and international promotion very focused on our destination, the Azores Archipelago. The most beautiful images of our islands will be disclosed in more than 150 countries, through television, media, social networks and other platforms. We also expect renowned drivers to come by and show how brave they are.”
