The Tour European Rally returns to action

The TER – Tour European Rally – is gearing up for the second round of the series, on the beautiful island of Madeira. The Rali Vinho da Madeira, celebrating this year its 57th edition, is a well known event which in the past has seen regular World Rally Championship drivers (Henri Toivonen, François Delecour, Simon Jean-Joseph, Andrea Aghini, Piero Liatti, Bruno Thiry, Patrick Snijers, Freddy Loix, Armindo Araujo) and European Rally Championship stars (Giandomenico Basso, Luca Rossetti, Robert Consani, Nicolas Vouilloz, Jan Kopecký, Juho Hänninen, Luca Betti, Renato Travaglia, Andrea Navarra) battle on the twisty stages in the breathtaking scenery of the island in the Atlantic Ocean.

 

The TER series has recently received the entries of two drivers, who have added their name to the 29 who had registered for the series in the opening round - Arad Rally KIA – in May. The latest additions to the field are the strong local driver Miguel Nunes with the Ford Fiesta R5 with which he narrowly missed an overall victory in 2015, ending only a few seconds behind the winner Bruno Magalhães and Ricardo Jorge Pereira with an Citroen C2 R2.

 

Amongst the possible stars in Madeira, 4-time winner Bruno Magalhães (Ford Fiesta R5), Robert Consani and Giacomo Costenaro (Peugeot 208 T16 R5), as well as some strong portuguese drivers such as Ricardo Moura (winner of the Azores Rally - Ford Fiesta R5), José Pedro Fontes and Carlos Vieira (Citroen DS3 R5), Pedro Meireles and Miguel Barbosa (Skoda Fabia R5), Alexandre Camacho (Peugeot 208 T16 R5). Another surprise may come from Miguel Campos (Skoda Fabia R5) who is trying to secure the budget for the event
