The Latvian crew are the winners of the 10th edition of the European TER Championship.
Alternating between their Hyundai i20N Rally2 and Skoda Fabia Rally2, the Latvian Gints Cēlājs and Toms Freibergs clinched the TER - Tour European Rally 2025, the FIA-approved International Series in its 10th edition.
Born in 2016, the TER - Tour European Rally championship boasts an impressive roll of honor, with previous edition winners including names like Hayden Paddon, Giandomenico Basso, Simone Tempestini, Osian Pryce, and many others.
Cēlājs and Freibergs clinched the championship in their first experience in the continental TER series and lead the standings ahead of Estonian Kaspar Kasari, the 9-time world rally champion Frenchman Sebastien Loeb, the 2022 TER - Tour European Rally champion, 2023 TER Series, the World Series of TER champion, former Hyundai WRC official driver, New Zealander Hayden Paddon, and the 8-time Slovenian rally champion Rok Turk.
The new TER - Tour European Rally Champion Gints Cēlājs said: “TER offers a fantastic opportunity to compete in a unique rally championship. It allows drivers to meet outstanding rally personalities not only locally but across several countries. What impresses me most is its affordability compared to other championships like the European Rally Championship. The costs are lower, making it accessible, and I really appreciate this concept. I’m excited to have participated in this year’s TER and hope to continue next year.
It’s great because you get to race alongside not only local stars but also internationally recognized drivers, like Paddon, Lindholm, and Loeb this year. Whether you’re a professional or an amateur, it’s a wonderful experience. For me, meeting these drivers, chatting with them, and comparing your stage times with theirs is incredible. I hope TER will grow, attracting more drivers who seek the excitement of a European-level rally but with a lower budget.
Honestly, every rally fan knows the top names in the sport. For me, competing with drivers like Hayden or Lindholm was a dream come true. I believe this will inspire many other drivers to join and contribute to the success of TER.”
