TER Series 2025 Kicks Off with Central Machine Hire Otago Rally in New Zealand

The first round of the TER Series 2025, the World Series of TER, is set to begin with the Central Machine Hire Otago Rally on April 4th in Dunedin, the main city of the Otago region, in the South Island of New Zealand. This event marks the start of an exciting championship that will span multiple continents throughout the year.

 

Following the New Zealand opener, the series will move to Mexico in May, then to Barbados, an island country in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, in the Caribbean region of the Americas. The grand finale is scheduled for October in Sardinia, Italy, with the Rally Terra Sarda. Two additional extra-European events are pending confirmation for the summer months, potentially expanding the series' global reach even further.

 

The Central Machine Hire Otago Rally 2025 boasts a high-caliber entry list, featuring a fierce competition between Rally2 and AP4 vehicles. A particularly intriguing battle is expected in the classic car category, pitting five-time WRC event winner Kris Meeke against local hero Hayden Paddon, the 2022 TER - Tour European Rally Champion and 2023 TER Series Champion. Both drivers will be driving 2 Ford Escort RS, adding further excitement to this glorious event.

 

The Otago Rally also hosts a round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship and the New Zealand Rally Championship. The rally has attracted an impressive field of 103 cars, with drivers representing not only New Zealand but also Ireland, Australia, Philippines, Japan, and New Caledonia.

 

The fast and thrilling gravel stages of Otago Region are ready to host the World Series of TER for the second time, following its appearance as the opening event of the new "global" TER-branded series in 2023.
