Cronoscalata Tandalò confirmed as TER Promo Event attracts once again foreign participants...
The cooperation between Cronoscalata Tandalò and the TER continues for the 2024 edition, when the Sardinian race will be a TER Promo Event.
The organisers Tandalò Motorsport and drivEvent Adventures have announced that this year a dedicated TER Team with four drivers will compete in Buddusò.
A pair of TER-branded Cross Karts will tackle the 5 kilometres of the climb that leads to the Tandalò wind farm in Sardinia.
Luca Grilli, promoter and organiser of the TER championships will share the first with British Tim Metcalfe, 3-time TER Historic Pre81 Champion and second at the end of the 2024 season.
While for Grilli it will be a debut at Tandalò, 20 years after his last rally in the driving seat, Metcalfe has enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity to repeat his 2023 participation, ready to compete on the track again.
On the second Kart-Cross, Alessio Grilli, son of Luca and debuting in this discipline, will be joined by Danish Simon Vallentin.
While Alessio will be an absolute rookie, Vallentin is one of those expected at the start: 2024 champion of the FIA Nordic Championship on a Hyundai i20 N Rally2, Simon also boasts the title of 2022 TER Production Champion and 2017 TER Junior vice-champion.
The Tandalò Hill Climb on gravel will mark his absolute debut at the wheel of a Kart-Cross, an expected and challenging experience given that some of the favourites to win the event compete on this type of vehicle.
In both cases, the drivers will tackle the climbs individually and will effectively compete against the clock, but they will share two vehicles among four, as required by the regulations.
Tim Metcalfe: ”Really looking forward to coming back to Tandalo again and reacquainting myself with the crazy Ya-Car 600 CrossKart - a big Thank You to TER for the invitation and opportunity and of course to Rudy Briani/Gigi Satta as well as all involved with Cronoscalata Tandalo.”
Simon Vallentin: “It is a great honour to be part of the TER team and take part in Tandalò with the YaCar 600. It is the first time I will try my hand with such a beast. Many thanks to TER for the invitation”.
Alessio Grilli: “I would like to thank the organizers of the Cronoscalata Tandalò for this great opportunity. The debut in Sardinia could have been a dream, but thanks to them it will become reality”.
Luca Grilli: “We are delighted have the Cronoscalata Tandalò as a TER Promo Event for the second year running; thanks to the cooperation established with the organisers, for the 2024 edition the TER team will be at the start with two Kart-Cross. The debut of my son Alessio makes this participation a reason for even greater satisfaction. A special thanks to the organisers of Tandalò, who did everything possible to make all this a reality”.
