World Class drivers head for the Portuguese island event
The wait for Round 3 of the 2023 TER – Tour European Rally is almost over. Teams and crews are on the way to the beautiful island of São Miguel, to enjoy the iconic gravel stages set in the unique landscapes and beautiful locations of the Portuguese island in the Atlantic ocean.
World Class drivers are headed by French 9-time World Champion Sébastien Loeb and Norway’s WRC2 and ERC Champion Andreas Mikkelsen, as well as Czech Erik Cais, Norway’s Ole Christian Veiby. Foreign entries also include Spanish drivers Nil Solans and Pablo Diez. Regional Champion Luis Miguel Rego, multiple Portuguese and Azores Champion, local hero and 2016 event winner Ricardo Moura will head the local representative, also comprising Bruno Amaral and Ruben Rodrigues.
The 57th Azores Rallye action will begin in the morning of Friday, March 31st with free practice and qualifying stage for selected crews, followed by shakedown for other competitors. The first day of competition will start at 13:00 for five special stages, including the iconic Sete Cidades test.
Seven more stages on the iconic and challenging gravel island roads will be driven on Saturday April 1st, before the final podium and prizegiving in Ponta Delgada’s Praça Gonçalo Velho from 18:45.
