Tour European Rally drivers stand out in Monza Rally Show

10.12.2018

TER - Tour European Rally drivers took part in last weekend's Monza Rally Show, a popular end-of-season event held on the famous Italian F1 circuit north of Milan starring WRC, Circuit, Moto GP and Motocross aces such as 9-times World Champions Valentino Rossi and Tony Cairoli, M-Sport Ford World Rally Team works driver Teemu Suninen, and a record entry of 63 R5-class cars.

Luca Rossetti, Toyota Motorsport GMBH works driver and runner-up in the 2017 TER 2WD Trophy, won the R5 class with a Hyundai NG i20 by Friulmotor.
Giandomenico Basso, back-to-back TER winner in 2017 and 2018, finished fourth in the R5 class after a 4-year absence from the event, driving the same Metior Skoda Fabia R5 which he took to victory in the final round of the 2018 TER season, Rallye International du Valais.
Simone Tempestini, 2016 TER winner and JWRC World Rally Champion, struggled to find the pace in his first Monza appearance behind the wheel of a Hyundai NG i20 R5 by Bernini.

Some codrivers from the new concept of rally series also took to the track:

Eleonora Mori raced alongside Tony Cairoli in an HMI Hyundai i20 WRC: they finished the rally fifth overall, and won the WRC 1.6 class, before beating Valentino Rossi in the Masters' Show final.
Two-time TER winner Lorenzo Granai partnered Giacomo Ogliari in a new Citroën C3 R5, while 2018 TER 2WD Trophy winner, Florin Dorca, navigated Mihai Manole around the corners and chicanes of the event.
